A rainwater well tank cover from Texas Metal Tanks gives exposed well equipment a dedicated steel enclosure with the round, corrugated look of our rainwater cisterns. Each cover is retrofitted from the same tank forms used in our Dripping Springs factory. They are a practical alternative to a wood box or lightweight plastic housing.

Our well covers are made without a bottom. They are not sealed or painted inside because they are built as enclosures, not vessels for holding water. A 3-foot door may be added to provide access to the equipment inside.

Benefits of a Metal Well Tank Cover

A well tank cover places a physical barrier around outdoor well components and gives the area a more finished appearance. The steel structure can help reduce direct exposure to sun, rainfall, and windblown debris without taking up the visual space of a conventional rectangular shed.

Steel also avoids several problems associated with other outdoor materials. It does not rot like wood, and it will not develop the same lightweight or temporary appearance found in many plastic enclosures.

Our outdoor water well tank covers are open at the bottom and are not designed as watertight or climate-controlled buildings.

Galvanized and Stainless Steel Options

A galvanized water well tank cover uses the same G-90 grade, 20-gauge American steel found in our galvanized cistern sidewalls. The top is made from 22-gauge steel. Galvanized metal provides the classic silver finish associated with traditional farm tanks and Hill Country properties.

Type 304 stainless steel is another option. The sidewalls use 20-gauge domestic steel, with 22-gauge steel at the top and stainless steel rivets in the construction. Stainless steel offers greater resistance to rust, staining, and pitting, ideal for outdoor use.

Custom Water Well Enclosure Sizes

Each cover is retrofitted from a round tank form. Potential sizes may range from 3 feet to 8 feet 6 inches in diameter and up to 11 feet 4 inches tall. The domed top adds to the eave height, with the exact amount depending on the selected form.

The right size depends on the footprint of your well equipment and the clearance needed to reach it. Door location and the locations of any nearby pipes or structures should also be considered before we build the cover.

Please note that this product is not a rainwater tank cover placed over an operating cistern. It is a separate steel shell made to enclose a well area.
